No makeup makeup: Seven minutes of Self-care

Wearing makeup has different meaning to people. Some people love the challenge of putting on a fresh face, and looking fierce. Others avoid it like the plague. I enjoy doing makeup...usually. I mean there is always the elusive cat eye that just won't sit even, when you are already running late.
Although I don't wear makeup everyday, some days I do find the ritual of wearing makeup relaxing. It gives me a moment to spend a bit of time on me. Seeing the minor improvements on my face which most likely no one else would notice helps me feel put together. Below are 3 steps that make the process easy and not too fussy.

1. Prep Skin: Before I get to the no makeup makeup, skin needs to be cleansed, moisturized, skincare used (serums, peels, masks, lip balm, eye cream, etc), and most importantly sunscreen (Dermatologist agree no matter what you do for your skin using sunscreen has proven to improve and prevent damage to skin)

2. Hide Imperfections: My main issues are under eye circles, oily T zone, and very round face!I use my fingers to put on concealer under my eye. The heat from my hands melts the product and gives me a more sheer coverage. I use the dark contour palette more as a bronzer. I swish it in the hollows of my checks, on my forehead and under my jaw (places I would contour). This product is much more forgiving then traditional contours, and it give me a bit of definition. I use the yellow powder on top of my concealer, and on my T zone as a setting powder.

3. Highlight Assets: Find a few things that you love about yourself, and make those pop. Pick a product you love and use it. Personally I love highlighter, and I have been using this Nars albatross highlighter for years. It is such an easy product to use, and adds so much sparkle to your life. I like to have a flush of color on my cheeks, so a cream blusher allows me to get that just ran upstairs flush, loll. I hate removing mascara. Using a lash curler is a mess free way to get my lashes to fan out and be a bit more prominent. I also don't enjoy tugging at my eyes to get eyeliner off.  I use a small angled brush to fill my lash line with black eye shadow. This makes my eyelashes look thick and fuller.  Lastly I add this nude colored lacquered balm. It's got the perfect consistency. It makes my lips moisturized with out having the tacky feel of lip gloss.
